چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Frailty is a geriatric syndrome characterized by increased vulnerability to stressors. The elderly become vulnerable susceptible adverse outcomes for their health functional restrictions. Previous guidelines suggested fistula creation as first choice vascular access. Current suggest more tailored approach the patient's needs. Despite high prevalence of frailty in hemodialysis patients, there paucity work investigating relationship between access failure. aim study was estimation with different scores access, current failures. Method 67 patients participated (observational cross-sectional study). assessed 6 scores,Clinical Scale (CFS), Phenotype (FP), Edmonton (EFS), Groningen Index GFI), Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), Prisma-7 ankle-brachial index (ABI) hand grip were also estimated. failures mean duration accesses recorded. Finally, levels hemoglobin, serum albumin, C reactive protein, cholesterol measured all adequacy (URR, sp Kt/V) calculated from urea before after session. Results presents statistically significant relation frail robust that start central venus catheter AVF-AVG respectively. (SPPB- tunneled CVC 85, 7%, non 46,2% ρ=0,032, Prisma-7- 100%, 76,9% ρ=0,018, FI -frail 65,7% ρ=0,011, Εdmonton FS -AVF-AVG not 64,7%, 20,6% ρ=0,042) (Table 1-4). ABI presented 68,18% normal have 60,87% abnormal (p=0,022). In addition, number per patient, premature (3 months creation) don't present frailty. Conclusion score could be used tool patients. Further studies, larger are required define reliable easy use tool, which best suited dialysis selection.

Comparison of Celox powder and conventional dressing on hemostasis of vascular access site in hemodialysis patients

Background: Common measures to stop bleeding can run the risk of clotting and thrombosis due to prolonged application of pressure. Topical homeostatic agents have an important role in decreasing time to hemostasis and consequently prevention of the complications.   Aim: the aim of this study was to compare Celox powder and conventional bandage on time to hemostasis in the vascular access site i...

Hemodialysis vascular access infection and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

UNLABELLED Infectious complications associated with vascular access are a well known cause of increased morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence of hemodialysis vascular access infections and patients survival in the group of maintenance hemodialysis patients during a one year observation period. The study group consisted of 213 patien...

Vascular access profile in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

INTRODUCTION The aims of this study was to evaluate maintenance hemodialysis population in a tertiary care hospital based dialysis unit for vascular access (VA) types, to compare native arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and arteriovenous graft (AVG) survival, and to assess risk factors for access failure. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 182 patients on maintenance hemodialysis were evaluated and f...

Effect of combination of alcohol and Betadine on the severity of inflammation in the vascular access site in hemodialysis patients

Background: Inflammation in the vascular access site results in infection, which is the second leading cause of death in hemodialysis patients. However, there is no specific protocol available for sterilization before vascular access in such patients. Aim: to determine the effect of the combination of alcohol and Betadine on the severity of inflammation in the vascular access site in hemodialys...

Vascular access and survival in hemodialysis patients in Rasht, Iran.

INTRODUCTION. Arteriovenous fistulas and grafts are two common permanent access methods for hemodialysis. Selection of an appropriate access, appropriate surgical techniques, and treatment of complications are basic principles of long-term maintenance of vascular access. We aimed to assess the survival of arteriovenous fistulas and grafts in our dialysis center. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total o...
